Look what Julie did!!

I completed another UFO recently and had taken it to Julie to quilt. She called and said it was ready so I headed over to pick it up today! I'm SO happy to cross another UFO off the list and very pleased with how cute it turned out.
I picked up another from her a couple of weeks ago (another UFO) and it's a Halloween quilt so will post a photo of it later. Both of these UFO's were from Fons and Porter magazines. Slowly but
surely, the UFO pile is dwindling every so slightly! Now if I could just STOP ADDING to that pile!! HA

On the road

We took the new trailer out on the first road trip! Up to Okla. and Cedar Lake State Park. It was VERY pretty (and got quite chilly at night!).

We found this odd monument while driving along a portion of the Talimena drive (and doing a little caching at the same time!!). I looked for info. and found very little--but here is what I DID find (no clue as to the accuracy of the info) "Three Sticks is an historical monument. It was dedicated to President John F. Kennedy for his participation in the opening of the Ouachita National Forest Road on 29 October 1961 in Big Cedar, Oklahoma. The three "sticks" symbolize Land, Water and Wood." INTERESTING!!

We did manage to find two caches AND I finished one (and a 1/2) of my Dear Jane blocks. Will post photos of those later.

Alright, so, I won TWO shop hop door prizes. The first was the quilt kit from Kaleidoscope Quilts and the second (pictured to the left) was a nice little goody basket from Lone Star in Arlington!! There was a book, a pattern, three sets of charm squares, a little pack of fat quarters, two spools of thread AND a $20 gift certificate! Can't beat THAT with a wet noodle.

We had our gathering of Janiacs today at Quilter's Dream in honor of Dot visiting from England again. We had a great group (11 total, I believe) and thoroughly enjoyed the show and tell and just plain visiting!! (Dot's the gal in the front, green blouse, in the left photo). We're looking forward to Trinity Valley's quilt show on Friday (they have FIVE HUNDRED quilts!!) and will see lots more janiacs there.

I'm a WINNER!!

After completing the N. TX quilt shop hop a couple of weeks ago, I was notified that I was the winner of Kaleidoscope Quilt Shop's (in Whitesboro) door prize which was a lovely quilt kit. Here I am with my prize along with Patty and the shop owner (yikes, her name escapes me!!). Good GRIEF, that's an awful picture of me..but Patty ALWAYS looks good!! hmph
Tomorrow, we're having our little DJ gathering with Dot from
England so will upload pix of that. It's gonna be good to see her again.

Out and about today with my niece and two great-nephews, lookin' for trains and treasure! There was a new 'kid-friendly' cache in the area so introduced them to this new sport. They found the cache fairly easily and were excited at all the booty they found inside!! Also got to see two trains goin' down the track as well so was a good day!!

another day hoppin' and cachin'

This morning, Donna and I continued our shop hop journey without Miss Patty :0( Our buddy had another journey to make so we traveled on without her. First thing, we headed up to Gainesville to start the day.

THEN we headed to a little cemetary in Gainesville where I introduced Donna to the world of geocaching. She found TWO caches in the same cemetary and can no longer be called a 'muggle'. HA

Onward and upward, we continued our hopping and found ourselves at the wonderful Lone Star quilt shop in Arlington where we found a beautiful rendition (and MY personal favorite) of the shop hop quilt.

At our visit to Quilter's Dream in Colleyville, what did we find
but our guild's BEAUTIFUL raffle quilt. Sure hope the gals
were able to sell LOTS of tickets today (and I want to sell a lot
MORE when I sit with the quilt tomorrow). Isn't she a beauty?
We finished the hop today after visiting 15 shops. Didn't keep track of the miles but it was lots of fun, mostly due to the company. And meeting several familiar faces along the way made it even more enjoyable.

So, Patty, Donna and I decided to do a little shop hopping today. We headed along the southern route and hit 8 shops, collecting cute little charms and a portion of a pattern from each of the shops. It was a long day with many miles on the vehicle but a fun time was had by all. AND we did some serious damage to the debit/credit cards (except Donna, she's WAY too disciplined!!).

OK, so now I'm into geocaching!! This is NOT GOOD! HAHA But I made my very 1st find today so I'm a happy camper! Frank and I just ran up Denton Hwy. a little ways and made this grab. It was an easy find. It was VERY windy out there but very pleasant temp. wise! Wish it'd stay that way!! Tomorrow, going shop-hoppin' with Patty and Donna so will try to remember my camera for pix of that!!
