This was the little project I was working on this morning.  It's a cute little scrap saver and Susan over at
http://hangingonbyaneedleandthread.blogspot.com/ has a nice tutorial on it.  VERY easy to do and I think the friend who'll be receiving it for her birthday present will like it (sure hope she does anyway).  Think I'll get busy and make a few more later on.

GIVEAWAY AGAIN!

Seems that's all I'm posting about lately but you guys don't mind, do ya?  Didn't think so!!  LOL

Workshop today

We had a GREAT guild meeting last night with Nancy and Lynda of Great American Quilt/Possibilities and a fun, FUN workshop today working on the "Christmas Pickle". These ladies are SO nice and easy to work with . There were 19 of us, many of us working in the same colors as Nancy and Lynda's quilt but others who were working in very different colors. All were lovely and hopefully many will show up in our quilt show next April. Lynda said they have a blog at http://www.greatamericanquilt.blogspot.com/ so check it out if you haven't already.
AND, if you're interested in a civil war giveaway, visit Elaine's blog at http://faithfulquilter.blogspot.com/2009/08/civil-war-give-way-package.html .

Just a couple more of the pretty quilts from Quilt Plano. The first is "On Point" by Janice Whitt
and the 2nd is "A Baltimore Country Cousin" by Janice Bentley. There were many more lovely quilts but I'll stop there. The rest are on my webshots (see previous post).

OK, here's just a sampling of the beauties I saw today.
There's one of Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilts called Double
Delight by Nanette Gaskey, My Georgetown Poppies by
Susan Mankus, Drunkard Blues by Valerie Salter and
Autumn in Boston made by members of the Land O
Lakes quilt guild for their 2009 raffle quilt. I'll load a few
more tomorrow by the rest are up on my webshots page
I went into J. Michelle Watts' little demo and she had
one of those shaver-looking thingys like she uses to 'rip
out' stitches. What a cool contraption, SO cool in fact that I had to RUN to her
booth and buy one. Hopefully, I won't hafta use it TOO often! LOL

I HAVE been sewing lately, just nothing I can show you just now. I've done one quilt for the LQS' 'ugly fabric challenge' and it's at the quilter's as we speak. The other for same challenge is nearly done and will also go off to the quilter's. Don't wanna tip my hand til they're on display for voting. And another couple in progress are for the chairman's challenge for our quilt show next April--again, will have to wait til at least just prior to the show before those are revealed. SEW, rather than post nothing at all and have anyone think I've been slacking, thought I'd share a photo of a pillowcase I did for my DGD. It's one that uses 4 fat quarters, which she picked out. There's one more that I need to make using totally different colors. So cinchy to make.

I'm heading over to the Quilt Plano show tomorrow and will take photos, some of which I hope to share with you in the next few days. I NEED to get busy getting supplies gathered for the "Christmas Pickle" workshop I'm taking next week with the Possibilities gals. They'll be speaking at our guild on Tues. then the workshop is Wed. Looking forward to that!

I have had this project going for probably a year or two..just something I would do a little of while at the machine working on something else. My little pile of blocks had grown so I decided to lay it out and see what I needed to do to get the top DONE! I found it wasn't much so I've been working to get more of those finished and laying them out as I went. I liked it but wanted it just a wee bit bigger and went with 10X10 (these blocks are only 7" finished). I've been using my scraps and haven't been in the least bit picky about what went in it. I'm REALLY LIKING it and think it's going to be SO pretty. Probably no border since I'm thinking that will detract from the quilt.
