Hmmm...I know it's not much for not having posted in a WEEK but it's all I can show for now. I was reviewing my goals list and noticed I hadn't done a THING towards my pillowcase goal. So I went through my burgeoning stash and pulled out a few 'what's that doing in there?!!' fabrics to use for pillowcases. They're not the prettiest things in the room but they're better (at least to MY way of thinking) than plain ole white ones!! I've got a few more cut and ready to be stitched so will be working on a few more. Not sure where they'll go yet--probably the women's shelter. I used the 'sausage pillowcase' method which I think I've posted in the past and can be found on youtube. I LOVE it!
Edit: WOOHOO!! 2 more made after this post! YAY! LOL
This is the UFO that I'm currently working on. I started this in Sept. of last year in a workshop with Lynn Roddy Brown when she visited our guild. This was her Texas Two-Step workshop and instead of totally scrappy, I wanted to use only red/white,cream/blue. I don't think Lynn was very happy that I chose a more 'controlled' scrappy but I'm liking the way it looks and I REALLY love this setting. I do want it a tad bigger so will keep making blocks and add them til it's the size I want. And actually, I THINK I noticed that this one when finished will be my 5th UFO finished and that will complete that one area of my goals for the year! WHOOPEE!!
Another HOB top complete (but not pressed--LOL!) in another not so good iphone picture. Hey it is what it is. But at least I can mark it off my list. YIPPEE! I think JoAnne took another home so we're crankin' em out. The lady that quilts them for us quilted the last 3 in under a WEEK! Talk about fast turn around time. I always like to have 7 or 8 before I mail them off to the gal who distributes them so we're about there.
ANOTHER Schnibbles almost done!! These little buggers are ADDICTING, I tell ya! Like I NEED another addiction (though I guess it IS an offshoot of my main addiction, right? LOL). I just need to add the piano keys border on this one and off it'll go. I'll post again after the quilting is done. This one's made from "Frolic" by Sandy Gervais (I think) and it's SO COLORFUL. Sorry bout the picture..my 'good' camera's in the shop and this was taken on the iphone. Haven't quite perfected picture taking on the phone yet. Oh well, it'll hafta do for now.
And I've just about finished putting another HOB top together so will post that hopefully tomorrow (and mark another off my list, YAY!).
Thought I'd post just a snippet of what we worked on in Friday's class using the 'rapid-fire Hunter's Star' ruler. I'm using a variety of blacks & whites so they'll be more mixed up than shown in the picture. And I'm using 8 different colors for the star points. The jury's still out on this ruler. I know lots of people really like it..I'll withhold judgement til I see how it all goes together.
I was so excited yesterday when the additional fabrics I needed to finish this off came in the mail! All I had left were reds and yellows and I wanted a little more color carried into the border so I ordered a blue and green from the same line (Portugal). When it arrived, I got busy, cut the pieces, sewed it up and slapped it on! LOL Not really slapped, more like carefully positioned. I just LOVE it! These little Schnibbles are so darned cute and pretty quick to whip up. I need to find a neutral tablecloth for my round table as a background to display these little beauties on.
Here's the progress I've made so far on my class project from a couple of weeks ago. I'm REALLY liking it. I have one more row to finish up but THEN I'm going to make it bigger!! So it may be a little while since tomorrow I have a class using the rapid fire Hunter's Star ruler (must get my stuff gathered up AGAIN since it had initially been cancelled!) and next week I'm taking a workshop through Trinity Valley guild with Amy Winsor making some of her cute, funky little houses!! They're JUST ADORABLE.
I have one of my 'ugly' fabric challenges well on it's way but am considering a couple of treatments for the border so it's 'marinating' for now! HA And I need to get busy pulling fabric for the other 'ugly' challenge. Of course, I won't be able to show you either one til after they've been hung for the big reveal.
Just wishing everyone in the good old USA a VERY HAPPY FOURTH! Hope you enjoy lots of great food, wonderful friends and family and beautiful fireworks!!! Remember our soldiers still fighting for us every day! And PRAY for our country!!
I got my July BOM finished up! This one really says Halloween to me. Picked it up yesterday and finished it today. I also got the center of the Schnibbles quilt together but I won't show it again til it's done. Basically all I had left from the charm packs were yellows so I'm going to have to figure something else out for the piano key border or buy another charm pack...we'll see.
AAck! I'm so easily distracted!! I've been so good about working on my inlaid tiles quilt but then I pick up the bag of donated fabric and start messin' with that! OK, so I finally made myself put that away but then, during my blog visiting, I've been seeing everyone ELSE'S cute, beautiful, ALLURING State Fair Schnibbles and it kept calling to me (the pattern upstairs, it was calling to me! LOL) and I finally CAVED! Oh NO! But aren't they CUTE?! I have several Schnibbles patterns upstairs paired with charm packs just waiting their turn. So there, I did it and I LOVE it. I'm using the Portugal line and a Fairy Frost I just happened to have in my stash. So not ONE NEW THING purchased for this project!! HAHA These are so quick and easy and you trim em up and voila. I've cranked out 9 in a really short period of time so it's a quick & easy project, MY kind of project.
