more from DJ yesterday

A couple of non-DJ show and tell items..the first is such a cute 3-D bag quilt and the next two are from a Jo Morton group that meets at the Arlington quilt shop.

Then there's Barb (sorry for the dark photo) who's pretending to be working on her DJ though I think she only managed a couple of stitches.  How long did you say it's been, Barb?!! LOL

There's Dot with Brenda as she's signing Dot's books (with Sandy looking on in the background) and a very good picture (if I do say so myself) of Dot with JoAnne.  Then there's Sheri who actually IS working on her DJ (unlike Barb) and actually completed  1 1/2 blocks during our group.  YAY!

DJ day with Dot & Brenda

We had a LOT of fun today at Dear Jane.  I haven't been to the group in ages but when Dot mentioned on the list that she was coming over, Brenda said she'd like to drive up and meet her!  Dot was ECSTATIC!  So we had a full day today with lots of show and tell and Brenda stories!  They are SO GOOD and funny!!

OK, Sandy's is the first (top row, left side) then Jane's (right side), Gloria's (I think that was her name) is second row left and JoAnne's red/white/blue is next.  The next three are Brenda's (GW's quilt, another quilt using some DJ blocks with medallion and the 'infamous' REJECT quilt).  The last picture is HILARIOUS--it was our favorite block in the reject quilt.  TOO FUNNY and gave us all a great laugh (sorry if it's yours but I guess you knew anyway since you sent it in to be used in this quilt, huh?).  Oh my gosh, we had a great day.  I'll post a few more pix tomorrow of Dot, Brenda & others in attendance today.

Old barns

I LOVE old barns and took a few pix while in Wisconsin..sure wished I'd taken more cause we saw tons!!  But these'll just have to do this time around--

Oh yeah, I threw in a lighthouse for good measure..barns, lighthouses, they're along the same line, right? LOL

OK, no quilty photos today...just a little Wisconsin beauty.  It was SO pretty up there and fall colors just beginning to pop out.  I love driving the backroads and seeing the quaintness of the farms and LOVE the old barns.  Wish I'd snapped a few more pix.  There is definitely NO SHORTAGE of pumpkins in Wisconsin.  LOL!!

A beautiful tree decked out in it's red foliage.  And a cute little roadside display of pumpkins and a VERY LARGE sunflower drooping over.

Look at the cute little 'oddity' made from stone from Lake Michigan in 1924.  And the pretty water photo was taken at Horicon Marsh.  It was really pretty.
More cute pumpkins and an awesome heron at Horicon.

MORE pumpkins (and a few cornstalks).  Isn't that bridge picture beautiful?  If it weren't for geocaching, we probably never would've seen that gorgeous park.

A beautiful little Catholic church we passed by and then Taliesin, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's beautiful homes near Spring Green and the lovely little waterfall on the property.

Show and Tell

Here are just a few of the quilts exhibited at our guild's show & tell--

Aren't they PRETTY?!!  We have such a talented bunch of gals (and these weren't ALL!!)

OMG!!!  Today I went to Country Sampler in Spring Green, WI...I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!  It's a darned good thing I don't live closer..we'd probably be bankrupt in a very short time!! LOL  I did not take a picture of the outside of the shop and was only allowed to take a photo of items I bought a kit for so here's a HINT at what I bought...

But I really coulda done SO much worse!  YIKES!!  The little one on the right is a Schnibbles but looks NOTHING like the cover quilt on the pattern.   Later I'll post a few photos of some of the beauty we saw while here.  GORGEOUS!

And next Monday at the monthly Dear Jane group, Brenda will be gracing us with her presence in honor of Dot's visit from England.  If any of you are nearby and would like to join us, drop me a note and I'll send you the particulars.

Oooo, look where I went today...Lisa Bongean's headquarters!!  And isn't her little flower garden out front so pretty?   Her place is in Menasha, WI and then I found this wonderful little shop in Appleton--

LOTS of cute things in there!  I'm having fun!!!

As promised....

Here's the adorable, marvelous, beautiful little quilt I won in the auction at Trinity Valley's quilt show.  Ooo, LOVE IT!!

Here are the remainder of photos from yesterday's Quiltsitters group---

WOW, she LOVES to make triangles..says it's her THERAPY!  Guess it would be mindless if you just sewed and sewed and sewed.   I love them ALL but think my mostest favorite is the lower right.  Beautimous!  Little auction quilt photo tomorrow--I PROMISE!

Another couple of photo-laden posts coming up--these are from today's Quiltsitters group.  Lots of pretty ones as always.

The upper left is Monterrey Medallion--ANOTHER that I have started but it lays upstairs in pieces and parts (in other words, UNFINISHED!!!).  Must get it out.  I really need to start my 'list of 5' again as I had pretty good luck finishing things up when I did it.  The 2nd one--isn't that such a CUTE little wallhanging?  LOVE IT!  And the last one was made as a wedding gift.  Cindy said she just used leftovers.  AWESOME!!

By the way, I DID win one of the little auction quilts so will take a pix of that and post in a day or two.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Here are the final pix I'll post from the Trinity Valley show.  I have a few more but will save those in my 'personal collection'.  HA  I had bid on a couple of little quilts so am waiting to hear if I was lucky enough to win one (or both!).  Will let you know and post a picture if I'm a winner.

This one on the bottom left is one I was doing as a BOM several years ago and still sits in a drawer upstairs.  I MUST get it out and finish it cause I still REALLY LIKE it!!  Why do we do this? LOL
