With Easter tomorrow, it's bringing back a lot of memories of what I was doing and what we were facing last Easter. We did not get to attend Easter services last year as our flight to LA prior to Frank's second brain surgery was on Easter Sunday. SO many firsts still occurring since Frank left me to be with his heavenly Father. I still miss him so....
I attended Secret Church last night at The Hills Church of Christ. If you've never attended a Secret Church simulcast, you have definitely missed out on a blessing. Frank and I attended one at our own church last year but he was having a very difficult time following and David Platt (the pastor) goes at a rapid-fire pace. The topic last night was "Heaven, Hell and The End of the World". While I have been doing a LOT of soul searching over the past year, this reaffirmed (to me anyway) that I have not been doing what God has called each of his children to do. There are so many out there who believe in God and think they are destined for heaven. In order to be certain, we must 'study to show ourselves approved' and then 'go, tell'. The focus on last night's simulcast was the Chinese Muslims and, in particular, the Hui people. It just STRUCK me how we are SO blessed to live in a country that allows us to worship as we please without fear of reprisal (usually) and without being rejected by friends and family. These people are SO Muslim, it's part of their being and IF they convert to Christianity, they are rebuffed by everyone, forced out of their homes and communities and wind up alone. And one last interesting tidbit--the country of Maldives is the ONLY country in the world that REQUIRES it's citizens to be Muslim. WOW!
I thought it was funny how Wanda said she removed a block from her layout because it was 'mushy'. I don't consider myself good with color so I'm looking at mine to see if there are any 'mushy' blocks. Do you see any? LOL
Got a few more of my 'colorful' blocks done today. I'll probably make more than I plan on size-wise..that will allow me to weed out the ones that don't seem to fit in. Are there any that jump out at you as not fitting in at this (early) point. Do you have a favorite? I do.
I've been watching as Wanda has been slowly but surely making her beautiful, colorful blocks. And I kept thinking how gorgeous they were but was trying to repress the urge to start some of my own. That didn't take long (LOL)!! Thanks again, Wanda....(yeah right!! HA). I did actually sew 5 or 6 of the indigo and cream yesterday so those haven't completely fallen by the wayside.
WOW, it's been awhile..but I've been busy cruising!! We sailed from Miami aboard the Carnival Glory (I think the ONLY one that hasn't experienced difficulties lately!!!) We did have a bit of unfortunate excitement with not one but TWO medical evacuations. The first was after we'd sailed about an hour out of Nassau and had to turn around to take a crew member for medical treatment. After that sidetrack, we wound up getting into St. Thomas late and our shore excursion to St. John for snorkeling was cancelled (BIG :-(((!!!) Then the evening before we were to arrive in Grand Turk, we were notified the powers that be had decided that we would skip the island because of an unusually large number of cases of (I'm assuming) a digestive bug aboard ships after they'd visited. SO instead of a port of call on Fri., we had two sea days before returning to Miami. So while it could have been so much better, it was pretty good and we had a pretty good time. Totally unimpressed with the menu this time around and will definitely let Carnival know about that and a few other gripes. I'm sure they're getting a LOT of that these days. I'll share a couple of photos today to show I ain't lyin! LOL
The top photo is Atlantis through the trees and the second is the Queen's Staircase (too many steps for me!!).
