My stitchery

Finally got my piece back from Joann's.  The picture's kinda dark as I couldn't get the flash to go off and when I turned the light on, there was a glare on the glass.  Maybe you get the idea a little and I think if you click on the picture, you can see the frame detailing better.  I like it!

It's together...

A little table runner kit I got from Connecting Threads.  I got it assembled so maybe I'll actually have it quilted and ready to use NEXT 4th of July.  Will keep you posted--HA!

Look what I did this morning

My son and I are goin' cruising soon and this time I wanted to make a couple of cute pillowcases to 'personalize' our cabin.  HA  I figured he won't want this after we're finished cruising so I made a pair that I'll use.  Two yards of fabric, about $10 and a few minutes of stitching and I have pillowcases!!

I went SUPER simple and didn't even put the flange in.  And I didn't press them (but who irons pillowcases anymore anyway?  Huh?  I don't!).  And now that the machine is out, hopefully I'll get more done.

Monthly trip

Our ladies group from church goes to the antique mall once a month to celebrate that month's birthdays with lunch at the tea room.  There's always quite a substantial group and I'm sure we totally overwhelm the poor, overworked wait staff in addition to the kitchen staff.  I would not want those jobs for anything.  But I always try to get there a little early so I can check out the offerings to be had.  This month I was on the hunt for old yardsticks as I've seen some really cute craft items using them.  I was lucky enough to come across 5 (I think) as well as a beautiful crystal divided bowl (the LAST thing I really need but sparkles lure me in..ugh).

Anywho, I came across one interesting quilt and one interesting sewing machine that I wanted to share as I'd never personally seen anything like either one of them.  The quilt was hung behind a tall dresser so didn't get the full quilt in the pix but I think you get the gist of it anyway.

I love the rocker, ice tea barrel and cute little log house..the lamp's OK, too.   But that quilt is cool.  I really need to get back up there and see what the price was on the quilt (and maybe some of the other stuff, too!).

Then there was this Pfaff..

Cool, huh?  I think the price on it was $48 but I REALLY don't need another sewing machine, especially an old one that I know nothing about taking care of it.  Just thought it was nifty.

I finally got this little stitchery finished!  Should NEVER have taken this long but it did and now it's done!  I saw Carol over at Polka Dot Chicken stitching hers (which of course she finished long ago and probably many more since) and just HAD to start one of my own since I had the book.  It's from Weekend by Minick & Simpson.  I perused the book again a few days ago and noticed there were also a couple of quilts in there that I must do.  But first I need to finish a few UFO's..we'll see how that goes.

So sorry for the messy look--I hadn't pressed it when I took the picture.  Tomorrow I will take it down to Joann's and hopefully be able to find the same frame that Carol had on hers as it was absolutely PERFECT!!  Did you notice there was no 'Z' in the alphabet?  A little quirky but so cute!

July 4th

We had a fun day yesterday over at my niece's with tons of food as usual.  So glad I didn't take a dessert as there were too many and not much eaten (though the homemade ice cream went quickly as always).  We tried taking some family photos but the window behind us wiped out pretty much everyone in the back row.  This one turned out fairly well although my dopey sister covered her face with the pinwheel.  What's the point of taking a picture if  you cover your face?!  :-(

The little kitty that made it into the picture is Magoo--he's blind but such a sweetie!  My niece is a sucker for the dogs and cats most others wouldn't want.  She has the blind cat, another kitty with a nervous disorder that causes her to walk wobbly and a German Shepherd with 3 legs (there are 2 'normal' cats and 1 'normal' dog..HA).

Just a few

Just a few patriotic quilts that inspire me (and think I need to make)!!  Love them all but this first one--oh MY!!  Oooo, Ahhhh

Chevrons and Stars - Quilted Living by Gerri Robinson - Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber:
I love bright colours with white but usually there is too much white for a child's quilt. This would hide some of the stains!:
STARS & CHEVRONS Patriotic lap quilt pattern Designed by LAURA DEMARCO VAN SLYKE Machine Quilted by DENISE ULRICH Pattern in the July/August 2015 issue of McCall's Quilting:

Got this one snipped while watching the ballgame this evening (YAY, we won!!) and washed and dried.  I have one more set with batting already in each block but after that I will need to do more cutting.  That won't happen here until after I have game day (which is 2nd Mon. of July).  I could sneak up to the church while quilters are meeting next Thur.  We'll just have to see.
