Time for a snooze

With the batch of pillowcases I've been working on, it'd be real easy to take a little nap!  LOL  I've shown some within the past week and I've gotten a few more done.  There are 2-3 more that just need the final seam and then they'll be added to the pile (I use the sausage method for my cases).

(that could definitely be a better picture but there it is!)  I'm definitely going to be pulling fabs as I run across them in the stash and then cut the 24" and 12" pieces to be ready to sew at a moment's notice!  Just a quick, easy way to thin the stash.

And I ran across some really pretty blocks over at Katy's blog and decided I needed to try a few myself.  The pattern is Tropical Punch over at the Moda Bakeshop.  I think I'm going to copy Katy and make a QOV using these blocks but I definitely need some more variety--Katy's are so pretty!

Gotta dig out some pretty lights to go in there!

I have 22 done done and like another 10-12 prepped and waiting for the needle.  So by my calculation, that's over 1/4 of them (of the total I'm planning at this point--remember, 120 total) ready and/or waiting.  There is NO planning on subject, color, etc.  I'm just digging through the stash looking for interesting prints and using them.  It may turn out to be a totally ugly quilt but I'm thinkin' it'll still keep someone warm!

I've also gotten backs done for 2 more of my QOV's for a total of 4 hanging on hangers waiting for the magic of the longarm.  AND I have 7-8 more pillowcases waiting to be sewn and I've cut yet another baby rag quilt kit.  I should be power sewing right now but I'm not.  LOL

More pillowcases

This was more fabric I found while digging through the closet (the main part of the case) and had enough for 3 pillowcases.  I like the blue I found to go with the cowboy/rodeo fabric and I got em done pretty darned quick (for me anyway :-)

Did a walk through on baby boy's new house!!  Its beautiful but farther away than I'd like him to be (about 40-45 min) and at least he's not in another state.  He will close on Tues. and move in next weekend if all goes according to plan.

They say it's the spice of life, right?  I think it's a bane to my existence at times.  Too many things pulling me in too many different directions to the point that very little is getting done done.  But hopefully it will.  I was cleaning out and sorting a small batch of fabric I found in one of the closets and decided to do something with a couple of the pieces that were fairly large, perfect for pillowcases!

I'm thinking I'm going to keep those cute little leopard print cases!  I have another of the pink to make only the colors are reversed (large part will be pink and cuff will be the orange-y).  There are also a lot more case 'kits' ready to crank out when the desire arises.  HA

And of course, those darned circles continue
I have many more waiting in the wings to be appliqued to their background piece.  But still a LONG way from the 120 I'd like to make for a near bedsized quilt.  I saw one blogger sashing hers so that might be a good idea to make it bigger without having to make more circles....

Uh oh...circles

I've been tempted by the dreaded circles thus far but recently lost the battle.  I've been making a few and kinda like them.  My blocks are 6 1/2" (not sure what others' are) so I've decided I'll make it 10x12 if they continued to hold my interest.  But I really need to get on with making the backings for my QOV's.

(that really is a pitiful pathetic picture..will try to do better LOL!!!)

More vacay

I'm going to get back to my sewing but have a few post-cruise appts. before I can do that.  So for one more post, it'll just be vacay pix.  No sewing related today but hopefully next post (don't wanna bore anyone with vacay pix!! LOL).

Carnival does a GREAT job every cruise of honoring our soldiers.  They pay them great honor and thank them profusely (as does everyone who attends) for their service and sacrifice.  There was a fellow in attendance that was 89 years young and entered WWII at the age of FIFTEEN!!!!!  He served in the Korean War as well.  Amazing!  These guys and gals were all amazing!

These photos were taken on a tour we took of Curacao.  I was not happy that we got back from the tour after dark making it impossible for me to get some pictures of those colorful bldgs. that are so cool.  I also didn't get to walk across the floating bridge :-(   Next cruise, I guess.  But there was some pretty spectacular scenery along the tour route!

I was at a local hospital today visiting a friend and found they had a super cool (IMHO) exhibit of bronze cast models of hands.  SO interesting comparing the different hands of world renowned surgeons, astronauts, presidents, athletes, actors as well as other famous people.  Thought I'd share a few here--

Troy Aikman

Tom Landry

George W Bush

Ronald Reagan

Nolan Ryan

Dr. Seuss

Walt Disney

Billy Graham

There were many, many others but I'm really mad about not taking a picture of Andre the Giant's hands.  Do you remember him?  If not, google him.  His hands were GINORMOUS!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Just thought I'd share a little heart stuff to celebrate!  I have a cute X and O quilt I started a year or two ago and need to get that UFO finished!!!  Too late for this year but I may drag it out to remind myself to get it done!!

A couple of cute heart pillows, super easy, and two adorable quilts.  Share the love--HAHA!

Didja miss me?

I've been on a wonderful cruise with a good friend.  We flew into Ft. Lauderdale Feb. 3 (she arrived a day early) and just messed around there.  The next day, we hopped the hotel van to our cruise ship, the Carnival Conquest, ready to visit Grand Turk, Dominican Republic, Curacao and Aruba.

Just a few photos from our little trolley ride around Grand Turk.  The donkeys are protected by the government and roam everywhere!  They were apparently used back in the day when they carried salt down to the ships for export.  Don't think they export salt anymore but I could be mistaken.  Will share more later.
